Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

HometownLive collects information you provide directly to us, including when you request a demo, create an account, or contact us for support. This may include your name, email address, phone number, school or organization name, and job title.

For organizations that use HometownLive to stream events, we also collect usage data such as stream dates, event names, and viewer counts. We do not collect personal information about fans watching streams — fans can watch without creating an account.

We automatically collect certain technical information when you use our website, including IP address, browser type, referring URLs, and pages visited. This data is used to operate and improve our services.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain HometownLive services
  • Process demo requests and respond to inquiries
  • Send product updates, usage reports, and service communications
  • Improve our platform based on usage patterns and feedback
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data to serve targeted advertising to fans or viewers.

3. Data Sharing

We may share your information with trusted service providers who assist in operating our platform (such as hosting providers and analytics tools), but only to the extent necessary to provide those services. These providers are bound by confidentiality obligations.

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government authority, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of HometownLive, our customers, or the public.

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, customer information may be transferred to the acquiring entity, subject to the same privacy protections described in this policy.

4. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (TLS), access controls, and regular security reviews. Our infrastructure is hosted on reputable cloud providers with SOC 2 compliance.

No system is completely secure. While we take reasonable steps to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. We encourage you to use strong passwords and to contact us immediately if you believe your account has been compromised.

5. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide our services and fulfill the purposes described in this policy. When you close your account, we will delete or anonymize your information within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it by law.

6. Student Privacy (FERPA & COPPA)

HometownLive is designed for use by schools and youth-serving organizations, and we take the privacy of students and minors seriously.

Children's privacy (COPPA). HometownLive does not require fans or viewers to create an account, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The personal information we collect (see Section 1) comes from the school staff and administrators who set up and manage streaming — not from students or fans. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at the address below and we will delete it.

Education records (FERPA).When a school or district uses HometownLive to stream events, any student information incidentally captured — for example, a student-athlete's name or image shown during a broadcast — is handled under the direction and control of that school. In that role we act as a “school official” with a legitimate educational interest under FERPA (34 CFR § 99.31(a)(1)): we use such information only to provide the contracted services, do not re-disclose it except as directed by the school or permitted by law, and never use it for advertising or any unrelated purpose.

School control.Schools retain ownership of their content and remain responsible for any student information involved in their streams. We support a school's obligations to parents and eligible students — including requests to review or remove content — when directed by the school.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information. To exercise these rights, or to opt out of marketing communications, contact us at the address below.
